Dear Pacific Point Family,

As a board, we have been reflecting on a verse in 1st Thessalonians. It’s 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  We’re struck by how simple and yet, incredibly complicated this is. On the surface, it’s a simple call to “Rejoice! And give thanks!” It’s a verse you’d get on a coffee mug or bumper sticker to remind you to worship. What makes it complicated are words like “always” and phrases like “in ALL circumstances.” It’s easy to worship and rejoice when times are good, but it’s a much bigger task when it comes to difficult, painful times.

As we look back on the 2022-23 school year, we’ve had so much to celebrate and rejoice over. Massive prayers were answered, and legal battles that we’ve been caught up in, for years, finally came to an end. This victory allowed us to acquire the title to the land we had been promised, almost a decade ago. What a blessing it is to finally own the land, where our Junior High and High School have operated.

At the same time, we’ve had our fair share of incredibly difficult situations. Moments that drove us to our knees in prayer and, at times, hurt on such a profoundly deep level. One of those situations occurred several years ago when an employee was hired, who deceptively claimed to have cancer while at Pacific Point Christian School.  Contrary to gossip currently spreading through various entities, that employee was hired by the previous Superintendent, not the current Superintendent.  We are all disappointed to hear of individuals, who were victimized by the unscrupulous acts of that person.  As a board, we are deeply sympathetic to the pain that this may have caused our Pacific Point family.

This is where 1st Thessalonians 5:16-18 gets tough; the call to rejoice and give thanks is in ALL circumstances. The good times and the bad, combine the easy and the difficult parts into one declaration of worship.  As difficult as this might be to do practically, the call to rejoice and give thanks in all circumstances remains the same and it says it’s what God wants us to do.

Pacific Point Christian School is continuing to uphold its mission and values despite this unfortunate incident. By following a Gospel-centered educational approach and focusing on a Biblical worldview, the school can maintain its commitment to educating and nurturing students’ minds and hearts for God’s kingdom.  The school is moving in a very positive direction, as is evident in the excellent education being provided by our quality teachers, staff, and administrators.

As a community, we get the opportunity to experience, daily, the positive culture at Pacific Point Christian School.  We, as a board, have a stewardship responsibility to keep that culture intact and we will endeavor to overcome every interference, which misrepresents the integrity of our school. We look forward to the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year partnering with you as we expand the influence of Pacific Point Christian School.

Sincerely,

Your Pacific Point Christian School Board of Trustees
